They need little, if any, maintenance. All log furniture is subject to the natural process of checking or splitting. Checking happens as wood releases moisture. It is the usual result of wood seasoning... and does not affect integrity of the wood. Corner posts are large, measuring approx. 4" in diameter. Logs are machine peeled of bark to a smooth feel. Galvanized nails, deck screws and pro wood glue is used for stability and long life. Measures 17 x 20 x 20". Weighs 25 lbs. Assembly required. Note: Beds are shipped in 2 packages.
